Many people have taken up the call to be watchmen over the house of the Lord, or watchmen over Israel, and yet so many have remained silent. But a watchmen is not a silent post. A watchman is not a watcher only.
I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the Lord,
give yourselves no rest,
and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem
and makes her the praise of the earth.
Watchmen call on the Lord, day and night, giving themselves and their King no rest until He establishes His promise in the earth.
Staying silent is a trap.
It’s easy, convenient, and comfortable to remain silent and just watch things fall apart. We may go a step further and ramble on and on with friends and family about how things are going to hell in a handbasket. But this is not the calling of the Watchman. The Watchman is not a commentator. The Watchman is a warrior and a sentry and a victor.
Shake things up and declare the word of the Lord.
When am I done declaring the word of the Lord?
Stir yourselves until you have made it daily practice to contend for His promises. Then contend and contend and contend until they are complete.
If you don’t care about the end result, by all means quit speaking the word of the Lord out loud with your mouth. But if you care. If you MUST see His promises fulfilled, you lock your jaw down and you don’t let go until it is finished.
Your greatest challenge is the setting in motion of your formerly stagnant self. An object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.
This means you will exert great effort to transition from an object in a state of rest to an object in a state of motion. But once you have engaged in that trajectory, you have the benefit of velocity. You have now overcome the great obstacle of changing your state from resting to motion. Maintaining motion takes less energy than beginning motion.
It’s like developing a habit. The first 10-30 times you do something, you have to be deliberate, thinking through and focusing upon each step. You are battling a history of behaviors and habits of doing OTHER things. The energy you must use to be deliberate in creating a new pattern is no small thing. But to be a proper watchman in the house of the Lord, you must engage in the process of Agreement, Declaration, and Remembrance.
Agree with what God has said.
Declare what God has said.
Remind God of what He has said.
Repeat until the Kingdom of Heaven comes on earth.

this truly speaks to me. I’ve been in a stalled pattern for a while, as I’ve gone thru some major changes. I’m coming out of it, but being diligent to get on the wall and stay there proclaiming is what I’m dealing with now. God is faithful and pricks this place in me to make me hunger for it. thanks for this word.
Yes and amen! I totally agree. Watchmen arise, stand at post, and watch for what the Lord will speak!
